Most of the applications are similar to their PC equivalents, and the
PsiWin synchronisation, backup and conversion software can convert Psion
format files into many popular office suite formats, plus generic ones
(such as plain text and database Comma Separated Value format). You can
transmit files via infared, which can also be used to synchronise mobile
phone phonebooks and connect to the Internet through a compatible dataphone
(check Psion's mobile pages) or the Psion Dacom 56k Travel Modem. In fact,
if you have an IR printer or Psion's printer pod, available separately, you
can print without docking the Revo.
Unusually for a Psion computer, the Revo also comes with a docking station,
and while docked the Revo will automatically recharge its battery, which
fully charges in about six hours. A full charge will normally lasts for 12
hours, or roughly a week of normal use. The battery shouldn't need
replacement for three years.
In the UK, the Revo costs approximately £299 including VAT, which is
possibly a little high for a PDA, but you do get the unit, the docking
station, the power adapter and a twelve-month warranty included in the price.
Overall, despite the room for a few possible improvements, the Revo is a
very capable PDA that, whilst being an organiser most of the time, is
perfectly capable of proper word processing, spreadsheet and database
manipulation when necessary. Highly recommended.
